Zhuhai-Macao water supply project get green light

The Zhuhai-Macao water supply key project, Zhuyin project, won go-ahead feedback from the Development and Reform Commission of the province and will start construction in October this year. The project is designed with a capability to meet Zhuhai and Macao¡¯s need for water by the year 2020 and will ensure the two cities¡¯ water supply in salt tide period.

The project will be connected with Zhuhai¡¯s existing water supply system and will pipe water to water plants in Macao, and both east and west districts of Zhuhai. By 2020, all the water used by Zhuhai and Macao will be from this project.

The project involves a gross budget of 965 million RMB, with 450 million from Macao SAR government. Other capital will be central and provincial government investment as well as bank loans.
